The Friends of the Kohrs LibraryThe Friends of the Kohrs Library is a non-profit service organization of volunteers that is devoted to promoting the interests of the William K. Kohrs Memorial Library. It achieves this goal by numerous means, such as conducting fund-raising activities, purchasing materials and equipment, supporting the summer reading program, coordinating monthly displays, and providing lecture programs on a wide variety of cultural subjects. The organization meets on the third Thursday of every school month from 7-8PM in the Library meeting room, and welcomes new members at any time. The annual dues are $5.00 per year. Specific Recent Activities
Conducting semiannual book sales offering surplus and donated titles at low cost. Purchase of twenty-one upholstered study chairs. Purchase of several dozen padded folding chairs and tables for meeting room. Funding the Books on CD core collection. Hosting free public lectures on such topics as "Calamity Jane Tells Her Tale," " History of Handkerchiefs," "Raptors of the Rockies," "Lewis and Clark as Physicians," "A Paraguayan Christmas," and "All the News That's Fit to Sing." Freewill donations toward speakers' cost and Friends' activities are solicited. Decorating the library with Christmas decorations. Lending assistance to National Library Week activities at the library. Performing assorted maintenance jobs. Coordinating display case topics (birds of prey, Japan, Lewis & Clark, the Holocaust) LIBRARY FOUNDATIONThe Kohrs Memorial Library Foundation seeks contributions to establish a permanent endowment fund. The annual income is used as designated by the foundation board for special projects that would not otherwise be funded. The foundation is a tax-exempt non-profit organization.
